In the heart of a brutal, dune-covered land lies Laja, the oasis-fortress ruled by Emperor Hassan and his Dune Mages. But when Akbar, the seventeen-year-old unrecognized son of Hassan, learns an earth-shattering secret, he is forced to flee the palace to save his life.
Alone and unmoored, Akbar is taken in by an artist working on his father’s Glass Tahkari monument. As he learns about inlaying gemstones in glass, he develops a plan to earn his way back into the oasis—and finally gain his father’s recognition. But the longer Akbar spends with his found family, witnessing the generosity and kindness of the notorious Way of Water sect he has been raised to despise, his views on love and family start to shift.
When tragedy strikes, his mission to earn his father’s acceptance takes on new meaning. Caught between what he’s always wanted and what he’s learning about the Living Water, Akbar faces devastating betrayals and uncovers unexpected allies in his race against time to gain the love and recognition he’s always wanted.

In an idyllic forest full of charming bunnies and rolling hills, something has gone terribly wrong. A mysterious blight is spreading, and nearly 20% of the warren has died, including James Fernley’s mother.
Just when things don’t seem like they can get any worse, a creeping black rot appears as James and his sister are walking to school. And not any old, run-of-the-mill rot…, this evil blackness seems alive somehow. And it’s growing.
Join James and his unlikely mentor on a magical quest to uncover the hidden truth behind the rot before it swallows the forest whole.
An allegory about what happens to our world when we abandon our faith and forget to trust in God, James will learn to go against the grain and rely on the only One who can save him and his loved ones from a dark and broken world.
